Why I Believe Cheap Floor Protection Costs More Than You Think

Counterargument: when cheap actually makes sense
To be fair, there are situations where basic materials make complete sense. If you're protecting a concrete slab in a warehouse for a 2-day event, cardboard is probably fine. If the risk of damage is extremely low, spending more is overkill.
I get why people go with the cheapest option — budgets are real, and procurement is measured on unit cost. But if you ask me, that's a short-sighted metric.
The way I see it: the cost of floor protection is the total cost of protecting the floor. If the product fails, you haven't saved money — you've just deferred the expense to a more painful line item.
So here's my bottom line
I'm not saying you should always buy the premium product. But I am saying that unit price alone is a terrible way to evaluate floor protection. Calculate the total cost of ownership. Ask yourself: what happens if this product fails? How much labor does it really take? How long does it need to hold up?
